3 masted wooden Schooner. 64,5 m 490 GT 11 crew SY Vorontsov with her 64.5 m is deemed to be one of the largest wooden Yacht worldwide. She was launched in 2013 in The Netherlands, however it was only at the beginning of 2016 that she made her first voyage. This delivery (from Vigo-Spain to Turkey via The South of France) was also about "commissioning" with regards to the technical issues that may be encountered on all new ships and much more important, about the discovery of the ship at sea. This was followed by a period of representation for The Owner and shipyard (boat show, day charter). From June to September 16, there was the shipyard period in Turkey then Class and Flag survey including MLC certification. The yacht has been winterized in Rhodes - Greece and finally delivered in Italy. This position covers the entire field of the Captain's duties: crew & budget management, review of all the ship documentation, renewal of certificates and relationship with flag including modification of safe manning, MLC audit, annual and Flag state survey and port state control.

and a great opportunity to get deeply involved in all the aspects of such a unique rigging (factory acceptance tests, transportation, preparation, stepping, booms setting, harbor trial, etc). Another interesting aspect of my mission was the selection and the purchasing of most of the equipment for the Deck department; this in accordance with the Fire Control Plan that I had to produce in collaboration with the yard. Finally, another great asset of this project was the ongoing communication with the Yard, Flag and Class for the certification of the vessel, such as the safe manning, the ISM and the ISPS implementation.

Expedition Yacht. Max 30 crew (journalists, seafarers,
scientist...). "Mission terre-Océan": a four-month contract
from the wild rivers of French Guyana to the peaceful and
historic harbor of Bermuda. One of the highlights of this
mission was the involvement (as special guest) in a top-class
maritime event in Venezuela, gathering all the largest Tall
ships of South America (Navy training ships from Brazil, Chile,
Paraguay...). Making course to the North, we made two technical stops to prepare for the
Atlantic crossing (Martinique and St Martin Island).

Ann Esperanz, new built wooden schooner 103 ft. 102
Gt, Charter, Dubai -UAE. 5 crew. The mission's objective
was to build a wooden classic yacht in the desert (60 tons of
Burma teak wood). The project started with the study of
drawings (interiors, wiring, piping, engine room, rigging),
followed by the setup of all contracts (crew, providers,
contractors, insurance etc.) and continued with the export/
import operations between Europe and UAE (20 tons of equipment). Eventually, I was fully
in charge of the technical management in the shipyard as well as the certification and
registration under Malta Flag. This experience was utterly unique both in technical and
relational terms, including working with Indian and Pakistani artists on the banks of the
Dubai Creek, in this very old-fashioned shipyard.

Capitaine 3 mâts Marité

Etoile Marine Croisière - St Malo

This assignment was my first actual experience as Captain on a commercial sailing yacht. I was in charge of all aspects within the captain's competency area as well as of maritime event organization in close relationships with guests. Most of the time, the management put me in charge of arranging the docking, provisioning, bunkering... I was able to work in full autonomy. This experience was a fantastic challenge for a young 28-year old Captain. This was the last season of "Marité" before a long 3-year refit.
